Alter Aeon server updates for Jan 26, 15 From Shadowfax: Allow lock picking even if you don't know the skill. Lower cost of eqsets to 250 credits each. Tweaks to group join/summon timers. Fix bad string in resurrect spell. Mud-sent clantell messages no longer show up if you have clantell off. Disallow fury of the heavens in pk arenas. Fury of the heavens damage at low starlight levels is now proportionally less than it would be at higher levels. Alter Aeon server updates for Jan 20, 15 Fix minor replay bug in avatar channel. Add more filtering to extreme spamflags. Disable 'cant kill minions' warnings when using area turn undead. Add convenience command 'event post' for sending to event channel. When carving lightcatchers, take the worse of petroglyph or the specific skill level for determining shatter/failure of the catcher. Twenty years ago today, students at the University of Alaska Fairbanks crowded around a terminal in the computer lab to witness Dennis Towne implement the code that would make Alter Aeon available to the public for the very first time. We have a terrific multi-day celebration planned to honor this momentous episode in Alter Aeon's history! Today kicks off our 20th anniversary event, codenamed "Skyfall"! Don't miss it!

Alter Aeon server updates for Jan 13, 15 From Shadowfax: Allow minions to consume butchered meat and fish. Add a short delay when being underwater before starting to drown. String changes for curse ward. Display 'left behind' messages for retreat in the most common cases. String cleanup when using wands and scrolls on yourself. Add channel prefix to avatar channel. Reduce better at rates for store power. Various minor tweaks to bot detector. Clean up some bugs allowing combat with unkillable mobs. Add spam thwack to friend post. Tweak various druid minion stats based on how they're used. Notake spellbooks can now be memorized while on the ground, and will not be destroyed. This lets builders scribe spells on walls or anchor spellbooks to a location. Druid rune carving will now try a lot harder to put down an effect before giving up. If it doesn't succeed after a half dozen tries, it probably never will. Change channel casting exp: initial amount is lower, but it dents to a higher final value. http://bit.ly/1BloDdL

Costs to run player shops reduced. Slightly raise damage for weapon throw skill. Raise number of outstanding suncatchers from 6 to 9. (Alter Aeon) Alter Aeon 20th Anniversary! January 03, 2015 at 12:16PM The 20th anniversary of Alter Aeon is coming up! We've got a big event and some new high level druid skills planned for it, starting on Thursday, January 15 and going through Sunday, January 18. This is a multi-day system event, with various smaller things to celebrate two decades of Alter Aeon. The theme for this years event is "Skyfall". This comes hot on the heels of a busy year end event, which brought its own set of updates! A new high level area, the Fire Swamps, has been opened east of the Murlock Swamp, and there have been a lot of code updates as well. Fourteen new spells and skills were added over the holidays, including several enchanting skills for necromancers and clerics, five new mid-level druid skills, and two new skills for warriors. We also made a lot of 'quality of life' improvements to other skills, making them easier to use. We hope to see everyone at the event to help us celebrate! Alter Aeon MUD http://bit.ly/1czgEvf
